Mixed Breed Dog Clubs of America - Information and Application
Owners of mixed breed dogs can now join an organization
especially for them. The Mixed Breed Dog Clubs of America (MBDCA) is a
national organization which offers registration to all spayed/neutered (sterile)
mixed breeds and purebreds that cannot compete in a purebred registry
(AKC/UKC). MBDCA provides an opportunity for its members to compete at fun
matches under judges approved by the MBDCA and earn titles in obedience,
conformation, tracking, agility and herding instinct. In obedience you can
earn titles at the novice open, and utility levels.
The conformation standard for the MBDCA is designed to promote
a happy and healthy family dog, and focuses on general soundness, balance,
temperament and manners. Any dog working toward a conformation
championship, however, must earn its novice obedience title before receiving
more than half of the points needed for a conformation title.
The herding instinct certificate is issued in cooperation with
the American Herding Breed Association. The agility certificate is issued
by the National Club for Dog Agility of the United States Dog Agility
Association. The USDAA is the only agility organization that allows mixed
breeds to compete with purebreds. The tracking title is similar to AKC's.
Handlers are responsible for knowing the rules and regulation
governing the competition in which they are planning to participate. The
MBDCA's Rules and Regulations are similar in most respects to those of the AKC.
The MBDCA promotes the welfare of the canine population by
encouraging all pet owners to spay and neuter their pets. It also
encourages the obedience training of all dogs.
